Chancel and Festival Choir Section Leader (Campus Resident):
Saint Luke’s Church in Lebanon PA is looking for one person to rent a room in our Rectory for a much reduced rate in exchange for singing in our Choir.
As far as the room is concerned: the room is large with its own bathroom and shower. This resident shares a kitchen, laundry room, lounge, guest room, and courtyard with one other resident (male) who is also a section leader. The rent is negotiable, about $300 a month and includes all utilities (the building does not currently have cable but residents are able to access the church wifi for free). The Church will offer monthly leases so that students are encouraged to consider the room. Parking is available on site but residents are asked to move cars to the street on Sunday mornings so that people with accessibility needs can use it.
As far as the commitment to the Choir is concerned: residents are asked to sing at 3-4 Sunday morning services (10:30 AM) monthly as well as one Sunday evening service (6 PM) monthly. Although the Choirs rehearse from 7:30 to 9 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday, rehearsals are negotiable because it is expected that students will have full schedules. The Choirs sing English Cathedral repertoire and often present pieces in Latin, German, and French. You may learn more about Saint Luke’s and its music program at www.stlukeslebanon.org/music.
The perfect person for this arrangement does not necessarily need to be a concert musician and a music major. However to be successful, one must be able to read music at an intermediate level and be willing to informally audition with our Choirmaster. Tenors and Sopranos are especially encouraged to consider.
