Lay Readers

Lay ministers are considered within our church as a subdeacon, verger, music director, acolytes,  lay readers, lay Eucharistic ministers, *altar guild members, *ushers, *gift bearers. *(normally not vested).

Lay readers read the lessons and the prayers of the people during the service. If they are not performing at the altar, lay persons can come up from the congregation unvested to read at the epistle lectern.

Lay ministers also may participate as a leader doing the Stations of the Cross during Lent.
