Access for Persons with Special Needs

parking lot outside church

The parking lot directly behind the church provides reserved parking for those with mobility concerns as well as a grade-level entrance to the Nave and Auditorium via the elevator.

The easiest way to enter St. Luke’s Church is through the doors on Chestnut Street (Entering through the Bell Tower). This entry point requires two steps up.  For persons requiring completely level surfaces, please park in the lot behind the church by following ‘Wheelchair Accessible Parking’ signs down 6th Street – turn right onto Walton Street (alley) and right again into the small lot. At the end of this lot is an at grade elevator entrance which can take you directly to any level of the church’s buildings.  A wheelchair is kept in the elevator lobby for those who may wish to use it to get to around more easily.

Two pew areas have been specially modified for those with mobility needs (wheelchair and walker accessible). One is located on the north side aisle and another in the main aisle. Please ask an usher (or anyone) for directions, if needed.

Restroom Access for Persons with Special Needs (Church): There is a designated restroom in the area behind The Lady Chapel (the blue-backed altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary) near the pulpit. Enter the door immediately to the right of that Altar, take a left and find the restroom there. At present, this is the only fully accessible restroom available. A baby changing station is also located here.

Other restroom facilities are located on the first floor of the Parish Hall, accessed by going down to the lower level in the elevator (LL), taking a right, and walking up the ramp to find restrooms by the water fountain.

Please ask our Ushers to show you to the restrooms at any time during our services and any time during your visit with us.
We hope soon to modify the Chestnut Street entrance (Bell Tower portico) as a street level accessible entrance to the church directly. To support this effort, please donate generously to our upcoming capital campaign.
