Join us for a special Mardi Gras celebration on February 10, 2024, at St. Luke’s.
The evening will include a church fundraising pancake supper (including sausage) for just $10 hosted by the ECW at 5 PM, followed by a special 5-piece Dixieland Jazz concert by Ben Mauger’s Vintage Jazz Band at 7 PM in the Nave.
The evening will conclude with a king cake reception in the auditorium following the concert. There is no cost for the concert or the reception.
The name “king cake” comes from the biblical story of the three kings who bring gifts to Baby Jesus. A blend of coffee cake and cinnamon roll, king cake is usually iced in yellow, green and purple – the colors of Mardi Gras. Hidden within these seasonal sweets also lies a special surprise: a plastic king cake baby. King Cake is first served on King’s Day and lasts through the eve of Mardi Gras to celebrate the coming of the three kings.
